Where Ajumma's Watching and the Desserts Are "Not Too Sweet" Manmi Bakery is the kind of place where you feel like you've stepped into your Korean grandma's living room--if your grandma happened to bake 500 pastries every morning and kept one eye on you at all times. The 아줌마 (ajumma) here is attentive. She's not just serving pastries; she's silently judging your choices (with love) and making sure you don't put too many tongs in one tray. Respect her system, or face the consequences. This is a self-serve bakery with no frills and no nonsense. The baked goods are unapologetically Korean, leaning into those "not too sweet" flavors that Asians swear by as the gold standard of desserts. You won't find cloying frosting here--just soft breads, subtly sweet buns, and pastries that whisper sweetness rather than scream it. If you know, you know. The prices are as comforting as the food--reasonable and wallet-friendly. You can walk out with a tray full of goodies and still feel like you're winning at life. So if you're in Koreatown and looking for a no-fuss spot with flavors that feel like a warm hug (or a loving scold from ajumma), Manmi Bakery is your place. Just don't dawdle in line; ajumma is watching.

Stumbled upon this shop and loved it. I tried some cream puffs which were perfectly filled and easy to stuff whole on my mouth. I picked up some mocha filled bread and cream filled bread as well and loved both. It's not too sweet, soft and moist.

The cream puffs are so cute they are $1 each and come prepackaged in sets of 3 or 6 in the fridge. Lots of red bean and other Asian flavored buns. Priced so economically you can try a lot of things. Their breads look amazing too but they are very large

had to pick up a birthday cake and saw this little bakery close by w good reviews! I went in early afternoon on a Monday and there were a few people outside but no one inside. I saw it was a fairly small bakery, but the cake selection was p good! it had a nice quaint feeling of a local bakery which I appreciated. there were also freshly baked breads that were individually wrapped for sale but I was in a bit of a time crunch. there was only one lady working there who was v sweet and patient with me. i took a while to decide since I wasn't sure which flavor to get at first. I ended up choosing the sweet potato one since it was such a unique flavor and it was a hit! the size was perfect and the flavor wasn't too sweet (which is appreciated for asian desserts). the price was fair considering it's a small business and was a decent size (8 slices!) there were also bits of sweet potato in the cake which I surprisingly enjoyed overall a great experience and I would love to support them again when I'm in the area!

I came here looking for soborro bread and bought a fee extra. I froze some because I'm too lazy to make the 20 minutes drive to KTown and the defrosted bread tasted just as good! Buy 10 get one 1. All the ladies are really nice. Their cream puff and mocha cake rolls are both delicious as well.

Great lil mom-and-pop bakery! Service is great and has a large shared parking lot. This is a no-frills kind of bakery. Generally, what they offer aren't fancy but are solid basic korean-style pastries. I especially like their white bean pastry. And my goodness, they do not skimp on their fillings! Just that alone will have me coming back. Haven't gotten their cakes but they look nice and are fairly priced. They also sell coffee and korean shaved ice, which I'll have to try one day! I'll keep coming back as long as they're open :)

Manmi Bakery is located near BDC Tofu in the: Western Plaza Shopping strip mall. This bakery is the second location to their Garden Grove location that's known for : Cream Puffs. Besides their famous cream puffs, their traditional Korean sweet breads and cakes are stellar. My favorites are the Chapssal donuts (chewy rice flours donut ball filled red bean with chestnuts), sweet potato pastry, and Azuki bean sweet bread. The cream puffs are rich and custard filled- heavenly. Cash and Credit accepted . Parking: plenty in a large private lot.

Really a great store! I had to go in early in the morning to pick up a cake for later that night and needed something that would hold. They suggested the cheesecake cake (cake on the bottom, cheesecake on top). It was beautifully decorated. They provided the plastic knife, candles and matches too! Very very complete and thoughtful. They let me pick out 1 pastry as a gift! Everything was freshly made and was super tasty!
